Here’s how to check how much time you’ve spent playing PlayStation 5 games.

How to Check Your Playtime Stats on PlayStation 5

On your PS5’s home screen, select your profile icon at the top-right. You can press Triangle to quickly move the selection cursor to that portion of the screen. After you open that menu, choose Profile.

Now, switch over to the Games tab. Here you’ll see all the games you’ve played on your PlayStation account. Each one shows the last time you played the game, as well as your total play hours. It’s not accurate to the minute, however. You’ll see playtime rounded to the hour.

You’ll also see playtime for your PS4 titles here, even if you haven’t played them on PS5.

As far as we know, this playtime stat includes all time that the game was running—not just when you were actively playing. This means that if you let the game sit on the pause menu while you took a phone call or got something to eat, that time will be included in the total. So it might not be perfectly accurate, but will at least give you an idea of how long you’ve played each title.

Combine this with sites that show how long it takes to beat a game, and you’ll have a better idea of how far you are into a title.

If you’re curious, you can also see the playtime stats for your friends. Select the Friends tab from the same screen and pick the friend you want to learn more about. This will show you how long they’ve spent in their games on an identical menu.

If you don’t want your playtime information to be visible to other players, scroll to the right of your profile page and choose Privacy Settings. In that menu, under the Your activity section, change the option for Who can see your gaming history.

Some PlayStation Games Track Their Own Playtime, Too

If you’re interested in game time data like this, be sure to open your favorite games and see if they keep track of how much time you’ve spent playing. A good number of titles include total playtime on your save file, inside the pause menu, or similar.

While this isn’t consistent across games, and may or may not include time spent while paused, it can give you more insight into a game you want to know more about. Some online games, like Overwatch, even track your time spent with each hero across modes. Final Fantasy VII Remake is an example of a single-player game that keeps track of your total time played in the pause menu.

If you’re shocked at how much time you’ve spent playing games, this might be a sign to turn your PS5 off more often.

See How Much You Really Game on PS5

The PS5 makes it easy to see how much time you’ve spent playing games. It’s a small but much-appreciated feature, since the PS4 didn’t make this data easily accessible.

Meanwhile, there are more ways to manage your game playing aside from the tools on your console.
