Here’s how to set up and use parental controls on your Kindle.

You don’t need a Kindle for kids to use Parental Controls. You can use this feature on any Kindle, including the regular Kindle Paperwhite.

The difference between a child’s profile and a teen’s profile is that teens have access to more content and features. They can also shop on their own and request approval for purchases from their parents.

Set Up Parental Controls for Your Child’s Profile (Desktop)

Now that you’ve created a Child profile, you can set up parental controls to manage what content they have access to.

You can select which books, apps, games, and videos are available to your child. To do this, click See Title(s) under Books, and next to the item you want to manage, click the More actions. Then select Manage Family Library. You can add or remove the item from your child’s profile.

You need to make sure that the device is turned on and connected to the internet in order for these changes to take effect.

You can also upload free books to your Kindle from your computer if you want to make sure you know what your kids are reading.

Set Up Parental Controls on Your Kindle Device

If you have young children at home, you may want to set up parental controls on your Kindle, so they can’t access certain features or make accidental purchases. Setting up parental controls is a fairly simple process and only takes a few minutes. Here’s how to do it:

Swipe down from the top of your screen. Tap All Settings. Select Parental Controls. Enter a 4-digit PIN code. This will be used to access the parental controls menu in the future, so make sure it’s something you’ll remember. Select the features you want to restrict access to. For example, you can disable the ability to make purchases or access certain websites. Save your changes and exit the Settings menu.

Now, whenever your child tries to access a restricted feature, they’ll need to enter the PIN code. This will prevent them from accidentally making purchases or viewing inappropriate content. And if you ever need to change the parental controls settings, repeat the steps above.

A Better Way to Manage Your Child’s Kindle Experience

Reading can be a great way for kids to learn and explore new worlds. But it’s important to make sure they’re only reading age-appropriate material.

With parental controls, you can manage what content your child has access to on their Kindle. So if you have a Kindle and young children at home, be sure to set up parental controls, so they can enjoy their reading experience without you having to worry about encountering inappropriate content.
