And if you also enjoy sharing great podcasts with your friends, you probably get annoyed when you have to explain the exact minute and second where things get interesting. Luckily, Spotify lets you share a specific timestamp, to direct other people straight into the action. Here’s how to do that.

How to Share a Spotify Podcast With a Timestamp on Mobile

It’s incredibly easy to share a specific timestamp on a Spotify podcast. Once you do it, you’ll never want to go back.

Launch the Spotify app on your phone. You can see new episodes of the podcasts you subscribe to on your home screen, or you can navigate to Your Library > Podcasts & Shows. Listen until you find the spot in the episode you want to share. Tap the Share button at the bottom right of the screen (you don’t even have to pause). Toggle the button next to Share from and make sure that it’s green. Tap the app you want to use to share. The person who receives the link will be able to listen from the same spot you were. All they need to do is click the link.

Unfortunately, you can’t share a timestamp if you listen to the podcast through the web player or the desktop app. This only works on mobile. But there are plenty of other things that you can do, once you learn how to navigate the Spotify desktop app.

And if you’re bored with your regular weekly podcasts, you can use Spotify’s podcast charts to discover new podcasts, both on mobile and desktop.

How Podcast Timestamps Help Creators

As we said, this feature is useful when you want to share a specific part of an episode with friends. You can also save links of certain timestamps if there’s information that you want to listen back to at a later date.

However, the timestamp is also useful to creators. Like on YouTube, creators can add timestamps to their episode description, and help listeners navigate the different topics, or avoid spoilers and triggers.

They can use it to advertise a specific part of the episode that may be more appealing to people who’ve never listened and gain new followers.
